6,6 IMDb Nr.122 | Handlung During the middle of the Kanei Period (1624-1644) Japan was in the early stages of its most peaceful era. This left a large number of unemployed samurai with nothing to do, and their morale suffered. In order to raise their spirits, the Shogun's Chief Advisor suggests that they hold a "Festival of Swordsmen" in the Shogun's presence. Problems arise when some of the martial artists bring their personal grudges to the competition. When Busshi Shirogoro (OTOMO) meets the daughter of the late Lord SANADA Yukimura sparks fly as she tries to use the competition to carry out her vengeance against Shogun Iemitsu. Kommentar aus IMDb.com [Klicken zum Anzeigen] (by Angel_Peter on 8 January 2019) The movie starts with a tournament for all of Japan is announced. We then follow a ronin going around trying to learn new styles, which is often not going very well. There is also room in the movie for love, betrayal, and vile people. Camera work is great and filled with beautiful pictures and acting and martial arts is also fine. So there is a bit for everyone here, but I am not sure I would recommend this as a date movie. This film is not a masterpiece maybe but very entertaining and for me much above average in quality. If you like old samurai movies then this movie is definately worth seeing. I believe this is one that will stick in my memory and I would love to have it in my collection. | Darsteller Eiji Okada ... Kamio Shume Tomisaburô Wakayama ...
